My Top 5 Favorite Stephen King Books

We all know who the genius behind our most beloved horror books is and sure H.P Lovecraft and Edgar Allen Poe hit the spot but the fan-favorite of them all and common household name is none other but the king himself. Not only did Stephen King have a bunch of his books brought to life, but he's also written over 50 books to date!
So today I thought (for those who haven't really read his books but know his name) to introduce you to my top 5 favorite books by Stephen King. Most of the titles you'll recognize from award-winning movies and some maybe you even read a snippet from.
1. The Shining
The Shining is King's most famous, twice-adapted novel. It's in many ways the ideal King novel. Every theme, every terrifying moment, and character is 100% Stephen King working at the height of his powers.
2. Carrie
King’s first big success is a simple story that touches every reader through the mutual bond we share of the hell of adolescence. King shows his talent for identifying pain points and exaggerating them just enough to make them terrifying. From Carrie’s humorlessly religious mother to her cruel classmates, building up to that classic moment when a suffering girl with strange powers makes everyone regret how they’ve treated her.
3. Mr. Mercedes
Mr. Mercedes is the first of a trilogy of crime novels written by Stephen King. It centers on a serial killer (who opens the story by running down innocent people in a Mercedes, hence his name) who taunts a retired police detective with his plans to kill again and again. The TV network 'Audience' made a T.V Show for it in 2017 available on Prime Video.
4. Salem's Lot
We all know the old-school vampire stories: no sunlight, need permission to enter, compulsion, etc. Well, King's story incorporates all the classic rules and more. He gives them all a modern twist that still feels new and scary 45 years after its original publication in 1975.
Wow, okay. Finally at the end of my list. Not only is The Green Mile one of my favorite books but it's an amazing movie as well. The acting was on par! It really did bring the story to life. The Green Mile is one of the most successful writings King ever wrote. It was originally released as a serial novel. It’s the story of a simple-minded man named John Coffey, who in 1932 arrives on death row at a prison nicknamed 'The Green Mile', for murdering two girls. King masterfully mixes issues of race, sadism, and mercy into the story as Coffey’s innocence becomes clear among some of the more compassionate guards.
I hope you give these books a read for yourself and enter into the world of Stephen King.
